Dog care franchise welcomes new Franchisees in the Home Counties

Wagging Tails are pleased to welcome their two newest franchisees, Simon Eccles and Kevin Wright, to the network. Both launched in the Home Counties in May and they have already both taken their first bookings.

Simon, who runs the HP (Hemel Hempstead) postcode area,  has a background in freelance Technical Writing, but after marrying his wife,  Rosalind, last year and adopting their beautiful dog Benji from the Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, Wagging Tails presented itself as the ideal business for him.

“When we first met Benji it was love at first sight. His elderly owners had decided that they could no longer give him the level of care that a lively Cocker requires, and he is now very much a part of our family. We could never contemplate leaving Benji in kennels so I’m proud that through Wagging Tails and its network of carefully chosen carers, we are able to offer fellow dog owners a service that allows them to go away knowing that they are leaving their dogs with people who will give them the home environment and dedicated care that kennels simply cannot provide.”

After lots of research I launched my Wagging Tails franchise in the HP area on May 5th 2015.  Prior to my launch I spent three days at Head Office training with Jim and Lisa.  These days covered everything I needed to know to set up and run my new business, how to publicise it  and how to find carers and owners.  I found my training extremely valuable and it enabled me to hit the ground running when I started for real the week after. Lisa’s experience in running her original home boarding business showed through as she speaks from personal experience.

As part of my training, the same week I spent a day with Hilary Coates, the Wagging Tails Franchisee in Swindon who has been up and running now for a little over a year.  She took me through the daily routines and we visited one of her established carers.  Hilary has recently been recognised for her efforts by winning EWIF New Woman Franchisee of the Year, so I knew I was in good hands.

Whilst it is still early days for me, by week two I had my first carer with two more interviews scheduled and owners already contacting me to book in their dogs.  I am looking forward to driving my business forward and watching it grow.”

In early 2015 Kevin, who launched the AL (St Albans) postcode area on 18th May, was facing redundancy from his IT job when he began looking into Wagging Tails.

“I had become increasingly dissatisfied with the corporate world, working under artificial lighting in an office while the sun shone outside, so I decided this was an opportunity to make a career change. I had looked at a variety of options but when I came across Wagging Tails it appealed to me immediately as a way that I could do something positive for man’s best friend, as well as providing a much needed service for dog owners, who would be able to go away on holiday and have peace of mind that their dogs are being well cared for in a real ‘home from home’ environment.

It also means I get to spend more time with my wife and with my own dogs!  Dogs are such amazing creatures. As well as bringing simple, uncomplicated, happiness into our lives, they help us in so many ways, making a more normal life possible for people who suffer from many kinds of disability. In return, the least we can do is make sure they live happy and healthy lives. For us, that doesn’t include leaving our dogs in kennels when we go away on holiday. How could we enjoy ourselves, knowing that we’d left them in a strange place, with strange dogs, and no way of telling them that we’d be back.”

“My training at Wagging Tails Head Office offered me a comprehensive understanding of everything related to the business and I left feeling like I had everything I needed to launch my business.  The Operations manual has proved to be an invaluable resource for me refer back to when required.  Spending the day with Hilary, Wagging Tails Swindon, was also a timely refresher on booking and invoicing procedures and I was lucky enough to be able to sit in on a carer interview with her too which was a valuable experience as I was interviewing my very first potential carer the next day!  It was also great to get a hands on insight into the day to day running of a Wagging Tails business.”

” I am already in receipt of numerous enquiries from owners wishing to board their dogs and well on my way to recruiting and adding to my team of committed and professional carers.  I am excited for the coming months and growing my business further.”
