Having lived in London working as a teacher for the previous 14 years Alexis was missing the countryside and also the companionship of a dog.

“I grew up in Wales and Warwickshire so am a country girl at heart. I enjoyed the freedom of the countryside and we had many pets, including four lovely family dogs.

My ambition, when I was a little girl, was to work with children or animals. Yes, I know… they say never do either!”

I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and spent  nineteen wonderful years teaching children of all ages in the Midlands, London and even had a short stint in Sydney, Australia.

My most recent role was as Headmistress of a wonderful preparatory school in North West London.  Although I loved my years as a teacher, I have missed the countryside and animals, especially for the last fourteen years whilst living in London.  In particular, dogs were missing from my life.”

Following her move from London to Cheltenham in the Gloucestershire countryside, Alexis happened upon an article in Good Housekeeping about Lisa and Wagging Tails. Within a couple of days she had met with Lisa and Jim to find out more about the Gloucestershire franchise opportunity and a few months on she and her partner have welcomed Brea, their baby Beagle, into their family and Alexis has launched the Wagging Tails Gloucestershire franchise.

Talking about how quickly things moved forward Alexis said,

“I am a great believer in fate and this opportunity to join the network offered me everything to fulfil my dreams for my second career. I can now work from home, have time to look after my veggie patch and chickens, get to know my new local area and, most importantly, be with my dog every day.

Our baby beagle Brea – which means ‘beauty’ – came into our lives in November and wormed her way into our hearts within a matter of minutes.  If I thought I understood the bond families have with their dogs I really had no idea until Brea bounded into our lives. Wagging Tails has changed our lives for the better in many ways.”
