Former nurse Rosemary Gooch, pictured with her dog Coco, recently became Wagging Tails’ latest franchisee as she launched her branch providing dog owners in the PO (Portsmouth) postcode area with an alternative to kennels.
From her career in nursing Rosemary possesses valuable people skills gained from dealing with patients and their families as well as experience of training, organising and supporting nursing teams in her roles as a senior nurse and nursing care co-ordinator.
Following her retirement from nursing Rosemary welcomed Coco (a poodle crossbreed) into her family and they have gone on to complete the Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award. Rosemary joins Wagging Tails’ franchise network with a huge knowledge of the company having used the service as an owner and also having provided holidays for dogs as a carer for Wagging Tails’ Guildford Franchise before taking on her own PO Franchise Territory.
“Wagging Tails arranged two holidays for Coco, and I was impressed with the efforts made to place Coco in the right family home with another dog about the same age so they could play together.
I thought ‘I can do this – why don’t I become a carer as Coco and I had always enjoyed having Phoebe (a friend’s dog) to stay?’
During the autumn I decided to take our involvement a stage further and work as a franchisee in addition to boarding our little furry friends. And thus, the PO Franchise became ours. Coco is fully involved in this enterprise and comes everywhere with me. All the Wagging Tails people I have met – as an owner boarding Coco, and as a carer boarding other people’s dogs – have been so nice and such committed dog lovers intent on providing carefree, happy holidays for dogs whilst their owners are away.”
